General Election "Hustings"

All candidates standing in the Hereford and South Herefordshire Constituency at the General Election are being invited to explain why, on December 12th, we should place our "X" against their name on the ballot paper.  Although the closing date for nominations is not until November 14th, we have to date received four acceptances: Anna Coda (Labour);  Jesse Norman (Conservative); Matt Slocombe (Brexit) and Diana Toynbee (Green).

Format of the meeting will be:  each candidate to speak for 5 minutes, to be followed by 5 minutes of audience questions.  On conclusion of these individual sessions, there will be further opportunities to question the candidates both individually and collectively on issues of concern to the audience.  The General Election is not just about Brexit.  The major parties have very different policies on taxation, social and industrial policy, climate change/ zero carbon proposals to name just a few.    The meeting will close at 9.00pm.

We did not set out to have all three events in a single week.  Timing of the Hustings was determined by the candidates diaries and the availability of a suitable Hall.
