HCS regrets to see the possible demolition of the Old Barracks in Harold Street, previously the Records Office, now the subject of a planning application  Ref : P162283/CD4

 

Whilst there is considerable history associated with the building and the recruitment of volunteer troops the actual building, whilst being in a discreet 19th Century style, it is questionable that it would be granted a listing.  However there is a draft of a possible Listing application listed here.  There has been substantial alteration especially to the east elevations.  Recording the details of the building needs to be a part of the planning consent.
