Update on current activities:  City Walls, Declaration of May 17th, Sustainable Housing.  News from NMiTE, Historic England. CPRE, Hereford Area Plan and more.   Short formal AGM.

 

Thursday 15th November 2018

Housing, the endless conundrum:  Markets versus need, the local scene.  Speakers:  local estate agent Steven Thomas (Watkins Thomas) and discussion to include public sector role

 

Thursday 13th December 2018

Hereford's shops, despair or optimism:  Retail therapy from local experts including Mike Truelove, Hereford BID manager

 

Thursday 17th January 2019

100 years ago:  A Cathedral School boy's diary of 1919:  Talk and slides by historian Dr Howard Tomlinson, former Headmaster of Hereford Cathedral School

Life in an Early Modern Suburb:  Rich and Poor in St. Martin's Parish.  Speaker:   David Whitehead

Houses of Hereford:  Talk and slides by author Dr Nigel Baker.  Coincides with the publication of his book with the same title

A Hustings Meeting:  with local elections taking place on May 2nd, all our political parties will be on the platform to tell us of their plans for the future of Hereford and to answer our questions   

Thursday 16th May 2019

Putting life back into underused/ derelict town and city buildings:   Illustrated talk by developer Michael Hodges MRICS who has a passion about the restoration of old buildings, which have more to give, and the creation of new homes that work for people in the 21st century.  Member of Pershore Civic Society.

 

Friday 7th June 2019

Transport Choices for Hereford’s Future

Jesse Norman MP, former Highways Minister, outlined the direction he hoped his former department would be taking.  Professor John Whitelegg spoke enthusiastically about his vision of the transformation of mobility.

 

Thursday 20th June 2019 

A revival of the popular annual summer's evening walk around the city:

Meeting point, 7.00pm at the Bridge Street car park adjacent to the Hereford Leisure Pool, St Martins Avenue.  A gentle guided walk across Bishop's Meadow finishing at the Saracens Head, by the Old Bridge.

Saturday 13th July 2019

Annual Summer Outing to the medieval riverside town of Bewdley; Severn Valley Railway and Morville Hall (NT).
